The market stall is one of the oldest forms of a shopping experience, where local traders, vendors and hobbyists would sell their fresh produce and wares. The traditional market is dying as online shopping becomes a bigger part of everyday life and I decided to put together a personal project of promotional items for my local markets.
Utilising information from my local council website I found a list of markets, locations and what is generally sold. I then took local landmarks close to each market as a key feature to be used for each market which locals would easily recognise and for visitors to use as a visual marker to find the markets.
Going with a clean illustrative style to make the visual identities legible from a distance and have contemporary up to date style to bring the market into the present day. The font pairing chosen was to reflect the existing signage and allow for hints of the market heritage but with a more modern look. The colour schemes were to be taken from imagery from the actual markets to tie all the visuals together but predominantly adhering to a more inviting and friendly colour palette.
